Phew okay, strap in for an exciting episode. The climax, maybe? I don’t know if there is a real climax in this show except for this episode. A lot happens here!
A few notes, please read:
It took me 43 episodes out of 48 to decide to finally add alternate color for the text. One thing I wish I could go back and do differently, is to add a second color for overlapping audio so that it’s less confusing to read. You know what they say about hindsight…
The reason for the color code is a whole rapidfire of idioms. I suggest reading one color or the other for comprehension while watching. One is the literal translation of the idiom to keep up with the pattern, the other is the meaning of the idiom. It felt wrong to include either of them by themselves. One just feels like they’re listing things, the other feels like you’re not understanding the literary wordplay. And hopefully, if anyone chooses to re-watch or slow it down to read, they could gain a little appreciation for the Chinese language.
Also, couplets. They sound much more elegant in Chinese than English, the way they perfectly correspond in pattern yet contrast (or complement) in meaning. I went mostly for comprehension but did my best to follow the pattern. Maybe if you try to listen for it, you could hear the rhythm of the words and how it’s the same between the call and the answer.
OH. And there is a missing scene again. Pretty crucial information, so I crudely stitched in a different clip again. At least they’re in the same aspect ratio this time…..
