Huan Zhu Ge Ge II Episode 28 English sub

Very exciting episode! We’re almost at the turning point of the show!

Notes:

  • In this episode, there’s a lot of dates. Everything is in lunar calendar months. For example, even though I’ve translated something as “December,” it’s talking about the 12th month of the lunar calendar. The years are named in a sexagenary cycle and I can be sure it’s 1742/1743 based on Qian Long’s rule.
  • In series 1 episode 2, Zi Wei shows Xiao Yan Zi her mother’s painting and fan, the items that prove she’s the Emperor’s daughter. The Emperor had drawn them for Zi Wei’s mother when he visited. In it, the Emperor wrote “in the autumn of Xin You year (1741) by the banks of Da Ming Lake…” and wrote “Painted by Bao Li in the tenth month of Xin You year.” In this same episode, Zi Wei’s birthday is August 2, 1742 (lunar calendar).
  • The story of how Xia Yu He (Zi Wei’s mom) met the Emperor, as told by Xiao Yan Zi in the first series: The Emperor was on an excursion to Jinan, and stepped into the Xia family residence to wait out some rain. But after the rain stopped, the Emperor still didn’t want to leave, and the small visit became a small stay.
  • Note how much Lao Fo Ye hates Zi Wei, but remembers her exact birth date. So thoughtful!!
